11/29 Work Party @ 11am

The next work party will be on Sunday, November 29th @ 11am until about 1pm. Rain or shine.

Thanks to Arbor Barber Tree Service, we now have LOTS of wood chips to spread. Even if you don't have a wheel barrow or a pitch fork, there will be extra tools and plenty of work for our volunteers. Unless your dog is very well behaved, we recommend keeping your dog at home unless you have someone that can watch it for you at the dog park.

If you would like to become a volunteer, email your request to 4mltdog@gmail.com for the volunteer forms. There is a background check and an orientation to attend prior to being able to work.

Thanks! ~~ Jim

Thanks to all of you for your support in making this water project happen! Your donations, encouragement, time, and hard work paid off!

Special thanks to Nic Holcomb, Kjell Hansen, Alicia Hanson, Evelyn Harrison, Alanna Clare, Elaine Evans, and Ann Nygaard for all the digging, hauling dirt and river rock, and more digging in the rainy weather.

Also, Jim and Cat Skoor deserve a huge amount of thanks for setting up a canopy and providing a delicious layout of homemade banana bread, oatmeal cookies, and rice crispy treats!!! Jim was buying Starbucks for us Thursday morning and mentioned the work party to the staff at the Ballinger Starbucks. They provided two to-go carafes of coffee for free! Regular AND decaf with all the trimmings! The treats made the work party much more enjoyable! If you stop in at the Ballinger location, let them know of your appreciation. I will be sending them an official letter from MLT D.O.G. soon.

I'd like to thank Kasey Cundy and Brandon Lobb of the City of Mountlake Terrace for their hard work in installing the piping and the faucet for us, making sure all went according to plan, and testing the piping Friday morning. Speaking of the City, Ken Courtmanch and Don Sarcletti deserve our thanks not only for this project but since the beginning for their ideas and guidance in making this a great dog park. Last but not least, I'd like to thank City Council for approving the dog park and water project.

The faucet is the self-shut off kind and it is so amusing to me that the stainless steel bowl is filled the perfect amount by one push of the button. Nic, thanks for pointing that out to me. I don't think that will ever get old. Thanks also to whomever provided the bowls!

We are still in need of donations as we depleted our account to make this project happen sooner than later. Among the items on the wish list are a new banner (for parades, booths, etc.), supplies, and maybe even a more permanent drinking fountain that has human and canine fountains built into the same unit.

Our volunteer-run dog park has benefited greatly from our supportive members, visitors, Eagle Scouts, and members of the City. Thank you so much!

With the windy weather moving in, be aware of your surroundings and play it safe. Be aware of falling branches, small and large, and possibly even trees in the gusty weather. The City recommends people leave all City parks in any weather where such dangers exist.

Water Fundraiser

We are a volunteer run dog park with oversight from the City.

We are on the verge of having all of the money for paying for a water meter enabling our dog park to have running water! This is especially impressive given we had to raise the entire $4,000! Thanks to all of you who donated!

It's not too late to donate, though. We are maxing out our account so we need even more to keep our dog park running. Anything you can give is appreciated.

Fundraising

Hi everyone!

We are raising money for many purposes but one that has come up has to do with water. The most common question about our dog park has to do with water.

The latest estimate is $1,900 (up from the original guesstimate of $1,000) for a water meter including installation.

Before we can raise money specifically for a water meter, City Council must approve it because it is a capital improvement.

Feel free to write an email to the City about the benefits of having running water at the dog park. Click here to provide comments to City Council.

Please visit DONATE to donate what you are able.
Thanks for your support. ~~ Jim Ito, President MLT D.O.G.
